Shiver

I have a super awesome friend who always lets me borrow books because we have the same taste in genres.  So when she said she had a book about werewolves I said yes please!  This books was a really quick read; I would have read it even faster if it wasn't for getting sick and not being able to focus on words.

At a young age, Grace is pulled from her swing and dragged into the forest by a pack of wolves.  She catches the yellow eyes of one wolf in particular.  Surprise, surprise, he saves her from the other big bad wolves and she lives.  Fast forward from being about seven years old to now being a seventeen year old bookworm obsessed with the wolves she sees at the edge of the forest in her backyard.  The wolf with the yellow eyes still watches her.  It's summer and Sam, a boy with black hair and yellow eyes, sits at his job in a bookstore day-dreaming about her.  Yep you figured it out, Sam is the wolf with the yellow eyes.

After Jack, a local high school boy, is attacked and killed by wolves, Grace learns that a hunting party is going after the wolves in her forest.  She rushes home to sounds of gun blasts.  On her back porch she finds a naked Sam with a bullet wound in his neck.  Even though it is winter and the cold changes him into a wolf, he somehow turns back into a human.  It's up to Grace to save him from the bullet wound and keep his secret safe.  How much time does he have left before he turns back into a wolf?  Possibly for good this time?

Even though I am a heck of a lot older than her, I could definitely relate to Grace.  She loves books and has never felt like she belongs.  And Sam is such a lovable character.  Definitely a very interesting read and I can't wait to read the second book in the series.
